How to Fix a Large Cigarette Burn in a Soft Tan Sofa
A soft tan sofa does so much more than add a graceful yet neutral element to your living room; it gives you a cozy, comfortable place to relax after a long day. However, it's hard to relax on a soft leather sofa that bears the charred mark of a cigarette burn. Thankfully, you don't need to live with such a mark for all time but can restore your leather sofa to its previous pristine condition. Does this Spark an idea?
Things You'll Need

- Measuring tape
- Tan canvas cloth

- Towel
- Iron

1
Grate a razor blade very gently across the surface area of the burn, removing the charred bits. Once you've finished, the burn will look less like a burn mark and more like a small hole in the tan leather.
-
2
Measure the diameter of the hole with a measuring tape. Cut a piece of tan canvas to a circular shape slightly larger than the cigarette burn's dimensions. Slide it underneath the leather hole and smooth it out flat.
-
-
3
Apply a few dabs of tan leather glue/leather repair from your kit to the hole. Give it a minute to congeal and then press one of the included grain papers onto the area.
-
4
Cover the area around the repair with a towel for protection. Press a hot iron over the grain paper for 10 to 20 second to help it set.
-
5
Remove the iron and peel off the grain paper to reveal your patched hole.
