How to Build a Garage Exhaust Hose
Working on cars in a garage requires the cars to be started up inside the garage to drive them in and out and to test their engines. In commercial garages that work on a lot of cars, steps must be taken to remove the engine exhaust from the work area to prevent dangerous buildup of carbon dioxide. The easiest way to do this is to vent the exhaust pipes of the cars outdoors using an exhaust hose. Does this Spark an idea?

1
Cut a hole in the garage door that is slightly bigger than the hose you will be using.
-
2
Feed a 4-inch-diameter plastic hose through the hole in the garage door, leaving enough hose inside of the garage to reach any point where a car's exhaust pipe may be putting out fumes.
-
-
3
Fit the end of the hose that will be attached to the tailpipe with a tailpipe adapter, to prevent any fumes from leaking into the working space.
-
4
Place the end of the hose over the exhaust pipe of the car before starting it, allowing the fumes to be fed through the hose and to the outside.
-
5
Keep the hose in as straight a line as possible to prevent it from kinking.
