How to Hang a Panoramic Photo Over a Sofa

A panoramic photo can cover a large area.

Decorating the area over a sofa can seem challenging because of the excessive length. A panoramic photo provides a one-shot solution, as it covers the majority of a sofa's length. Because of the picture's size, it may be heavier than normal. With proper preparation, you'll soon have your new piece of room decor in place and can enjoy the benefits. Does this Spark an idea?

Things You'll Need

• Stud finder
• Pencil
• Painter's tape
• Measuring tape
• 2 nails
• 2 picture hooks
• Hammer

Instructions

1. Locate two studs in the wall behind your sofa. Use a pencil to place a mark at their locations. Depending on your sofa's location, you may need to move it a few inches to the right or left so the picture is directly centered.

2. Hold the picture in place above the sofa at the location where you want it, using the stud marks as a guide. Have an assistant step back from the wall to tell you when it appears even. Continue holding the picture once it's at the exact spot, and have the assistant place a strip of painter's tape along the wall, even with the top of the frame.

3. Place the panoramic photo on the floor so the picture wire faces upwards. Space your hands several inches apart and pull the wire tight to mimic its position once it's in place. Take a measurement of the distance from the tight wire to the top edge of the frame.

4. Mark the location on a stud for one picture hanger by measuring from the bottom of the painter's tape to the number from your wire measurement. Repeat the process on the opposite stud.

5. Drive a nail through a picture hook at the determined locations. Hold the panoramic picture up to the wall and gently slide the wire over the picture hooks.
