1
Wash your hair with cold water. Cold water washings are an effective way to get rid of existing hair grease and deter the formation of new grease. Additionally, the cold water will seal off your pores and cuticles. This will make them temporarily inaccessible to dirt and other assorted forms of filth.

Use clarifying shampoos and conditioners. If your hair is naturally prone to excessive greasiness, these products can effectively give you a fresh, clean, oil-free scalp.

3
Brush and comb your hair sparingly. Excessive hair-brushing stimulates the production of hair and scalp oil, so avoid brushing your hair unless it's absolutely necessary. By extension, avoid excessively running your fingers through your hair, as this will have the same effect.

4
Use dry shampoo throughout the day. If you have over-productive sebaceous glands, greasy hair may be unavoidable. To combat this problem, lightly spray your hair with a dry shampoo whenever you feel your scalp getting too oily. When you comb the shampoo out of your hair, the excess oil will come with it.

5
Soak up your hair oil. If dry shampooing seems too cumbersome, dab your hair with blotting paper to remove excess oil throughout the day. You can comfortably carry this highly portable paper in a purse or handbag.

Tips & Warnings
To avoid excess oil, limit your hair-combings to one or two a day. If you brush too frequently, you will stimulate your scalp's sebaceous glands and give way to more oil.
