How to Select Waterproof Jackets
Waterproof jackets are jackets that are designed to keep water from seeping through them and to keep the wearer warm and dry during rainy or snowy weather. There are two types of waterproof jackets. The first type is made with polyurethane, which repels water away from the surface of the jacket. The second type of waterproof jacket has small pores on the outside of it that keep water from getting on the inside of the jacket. Does this Spark an idea?

1
Try the jacket on. Make sure the jacket is long enough to cover your clothing, allows for adequate movement of your arms and shoulders and has enough space for layers of clothing. You want a jacket that's breathable when you wear it.

2
Choose a jacket with a hood. Your body loses 30 percent of its heat through the head, and if you're going to be in the rain or snow, you'll need special protection for your head. Look for jackets with hoods that come with drawcords, which are attached strings that will allow you to pull the hood close to your face.

Choose a jacket with zips and vents. The zips allow you to quickly put on and take off your jacket easily, and the vents on the jacket keep you from overheating during outdoor activities.
