How to Make a Fishtail Friendship Bracelet
Most people know how to braid together string into a bracelet, but to really add something special to your token of friendship, try a fishtail braid. While the result looks complicated and different, the method is straightforward and extremely versatile. You can make thick, thin, multi-colored and solid bracelets with this technique.
Instructions

-
1
Cut at least eight pieces of embroidery thread to a length of two times the desired finished length of the bracelet.
-
2
Collect the pieces into one bunch and knot at the top.
-
-
3
Place the bunch in front of you on a table with the knot to the top. Divide the bunch into two even halves, pulling one half to the right, and one to the left.
-
4
Separate two to three threads from the top of the right section, and hold them in your hand.
-
5
Cross the threads in your hand over the left section, and wrap it around the outside of the section so the threads merge with the bottom of the left section.
-
6
Separate two to three threads from the top of the now larger left section, and hold them in your hand.
-
7
Cross the threads in your hand over the right section, and wrap it around the outside of the section so the threads merge with the bottom of the left section.
-
8
Repeat steps 4-7 until the bracelet is the desired length. Knot and tie as desired.

Eight embroidery thread pieces will make for a very thin bracelet. The more pieces of thread, the thicker the bracelet.
