How to Make Nettie Scrubbers
Remove the cooked-on gunk from pots and pans with a homemade nettie scrubber. Made with stiff nylon netting, this tough scrubbing tool provides effective cleaning to make your kitchen items sparkle once again. The nylon netting is gentle enough to clean difficult food messes without scratching and damaging the cooking surface.
Things You'll Need
- 1 yard nylon netting (any color)
- Size J or K crochet hook
- Scissors
- Yarn needle

1
Lay the netting out flat on a work surface. Find the two uncut edges of the netting (the selvage edges). Cut 2-inch-wide strips of netting between the two selvage edges. Tie the strips together end to end with tight double knots to make a single length of netting for crocheting. Wind the length of netting into a ball.

2
Tie a slip knot in the end of the netting strip and place the knot onto the crochet hook. Yarn over with the netting and pull it through the loop on the hook to chain one. Repeat this process to chain five more chains. Join the first chain to the last chain to create a circle.

3
Chain two chains and crochet a double crochet in the first chain of the foundation ring. Crochet two double crochets in the remaining chains around the foundation ring and join the first and the last double crochets together to complete the second round.
-
4
Repeat the second round two or three more times. After finishing the final round, cut off the netting strip to leave a tail about 4 inches long.
-
5
Yarn over and pull the tail all the way through the loop on the hook tightly. Thread the tail through the eye of a yarn needle and weave the end through the crocheting to secure it. Cut off any excess tail. Repeat the same process with the tail at the beginning of the scrubber.
