How to Make Easter Sculpture Hair Clippies
Hair clippies serve a functional and decorative purpose. Not only do they help style your hair and keep it out of your face, they also add a bit of color to your look. Boutique hair clippies come in a number of shapes, sizes and styles. However, these bows are expensive. Luckily, the cost of the supplies to make your own clippies is inexpensive, and clippies take little time to complete. One simple hair clippie craft is making an Easter sculpture, such as a rabbit, to liven up your Easter Sunday best.
Things You'll Need
- Pink grosgrain ribbon
- Hot glue gun
- White grosgrain ribbon
- Two small googly eyes
- Green ribbon
- Double-pronged alligator clip
Instructions

The Rabbit
-
1
Bend a 3 1/2-inch piece of pink grosgrain ribbon into a loop. Hot glue the ends together. Repeat the process with a 4 1/4-inch piece of white grosgrain ribbon. Insert the pink ribbon inside the loop of the white ribbon. Align the glued ends together. Hot glue the pink ribbon onto the white ribbon by applying glue where the pointed ends overlap, to create the rabbit's body.

2
Turn the body over so that the white ribbon is now on top. Apply hot glue to the end of a seven-inch piece of white grosgrain ribbon. Press it to the pointed end of the white ribbon of the body. Form the seven-inch ribbon into a loop, hot gluing it to the white body ribbon when it meets the pointed end. This creates three loops of ribbon, two white ribbons surrounding a pink ribbon, with a tail of white sticking off the end.

3
Form a loop with the loose ribbon tail from the prior step. This time, instead of looping it around the body, create a small one-inch loop pointing the opposite direction to create a head. Hot glue the ribbon tail to the body, where the head and body meet.
-
4
Fold a three-inch pink grosgrain ribbon into a tight loop. Hot glue the ends where they overlap. Hot glue the end of a three-inch white grosgrain ribbon to the pointed end of the pink loop. Loop the white ribbon around the pink loop and attach it to the other side of the pink ribbon, to create an ear. Repeat the step with a second three-inch piece of pink and three-inch piece of white grosgrain ribbon.
-
5
Attach the ears to the back of the head using hot glue. This causes the top of the head to flatten. Hot glue two small googly eyes to the flattened front of the head.
-
6
Tie a 1/4-inch-by-four-inch piece of green ribbon into a small bow. Apply hot glue to the back of the bow and press it to the rabbit's neck.
-
7
Apply hot glue to the back of the rabbit. Press the rabbit to the top of a covered alligator clip. Position the clip so that the spring-loaded clip end is under the rabbit's head and the opening of the clip sticks down into the rabbit's belly.
Covering the Clip

Squeeze the spring-loaded clip end of a small, double-pronged alligator clip. Apply hot glue to the underside of the angled arm of the alligator clip. Place one of the ends of a 4 1/4-inch piece of pink grosgrain ribbon between the two arms, align it against the spring-loaded clip end and press it into the glue.
-
9
Apply hot glue to the upper side of the two prongs of the angled arm. Bring the loose end of the ribbon up and over the alligator clip and press it into the hot glue.
-
10
Apply hot glue to the inside of the spring-loaded clip end. Press the loose end of the ribbon into the glue.
-
11
Bring the loose end of the ribbon over the end of the clip. Hot glue the end of the ribbon to the underside of the straight arm of the alligator clip.

Tips & Warnings
Always heat-seal the cut grosgrain ribbon before working with it to keep it from unraveling. To heat seal it, pass the ends through a candle flame until the ends start to melt.
Keep the metal tip of the hot glue gun and the melted glue away from your skin.
