Instructions

  1. Naturally Curly Hair

    • 1

Wash your hair to remove all styling products. Comb hair straight. Cut hair evenly at the neckline and back around to the front. Keep in mind that a bob that is too short can bounce too high and look shorter than desired. Curls generally retract at least an inch when hair dries.

    • 2

Cut layers in the hair with the sides falling just above the chin line. This will add texture to your bob and increase the volume of your curls. Graduated bobs anchor the weight of your hair by gradually stacking volume.

    • 3

Tame hair with styling cream or hair gel applied from the roots to the tips. Allow to dry naturally while gently scrunching curls into place.

    Straight Hair

    • 4

Section the top of the hair into a triangle from the end of each eyebrow. Cut the remaining hair in gradual layers. Cut the triangle section to create bangs down to the eyes.

    • 5

Texturize the hair with thinning scissors to create a curly look. Keep the bob longer than your chin to allow for curls.

    • 6

Use a curling iron for thinner, tighter curls or curlers for thicker, looser curls. Use a frizz-easing product to create a sleeker look and allow the curls you create to flow. Allow curls to dry naturally.

Tips & Warnings

  • Keep your bob haircut below chin length if you wish to wear it curly.

  • A curly bob is generally parted in the middle but you can alter the look of your bob by switching the part to either side. Trim hair every six weeks to maintain shape.
