How to Make Cloth Napkin Animals

Napkin animals are popular on cruise ships. When you go to dinner on the ship and come back, it is very common to find an animal on your bed made out of a towel by the stateroom attendant. It is also possible to make an animal out of a cloth napkin. Making these animals can be fun for little kids, similar to making balloon animals. Making animals out of cloth napkins is not different than making them out of towels, only on a smaller scale. Does this Spark an idea?

Instructions

  1. Cat Napkin Animal

    • 1

Place the napkin horizontally on a flat surface. Roll the napkin beginning from the top left corner into an elongated shape. This will act as the cat's tail.

    • 2

Lay another full-size napkin on the flat surface and fold it in half. Shape the second napkin around the tail you folded for the first to create an elongated oval shape for the cat's body.

    • 3

Fold a smaller napkin into a triangle shape. Fold the tip of the triangle toward the long edge and fold the outside edges down to form the ears. Hold it down firmly and turn it over so the ears are facing upward. Set it over the top portion of the cat's body to act as the head.

    Rabbit Napkin Animal

    • 4

Wet the napkin with some water so it is completely damp and wring it out by hand. Fold it in half and form an upside-down triangle.

    • 5

Take the right side of the napkin to the left side and fold it in half again to form an upside-down triangle that is much smaller. Fold the left side back over the right so it extends a few inches.

    • 6

Move the bottom portion of the napkin all the way to the top and tuck it into the hole. Stand the rabbit up and spread out the ears a little bit.

Tips & Warnings
