Be sure to keep a lot of straight pins on hand for this project.

If you are a devoted fan of "Angry Birds" and want the plushies but don't feel like spending the money, tackle the project with your sewing machine. You can create your own cuddly versions of the birds in a short amount of time. These birds take a bit more effort than traditional stuffed animals, so be sure to take your time. It also helps if you print a picture of the bird to use for reference.

  • Green felt
  • Scissors
  • Sewing pen
  • White felt
  • Sewing machine

Instructions

    • 1

Begin by cutting out four ovals of the same size for the body out of green felt. Cut these as large as you want your plushie to be. Trace half of the oval with a sewing pen and two circles for eyes, using a picture of the boomerang bird as a reference for eye shape.

    • 2

Place a piece of the white felt on top of the green felt and place it under the sewing machine foot, green side up. Sew half of the oval and the eyes, following the trace marks.

    • 3

Remove the felt from under the sewing machine trim the excess felt. Half of the oval should be white, and you should have two white circles for eyes. Turn over and draw pupils in the eye circles with the sewing pen. Draw thick eyebrows, using the picture for reference (and making sure they look angry).

    • 4

Place a piece of black felt on the opposite side (on top of the white felt) and turn it back over. Trace the lines you drew with the sewing pen with the sewing machine. Trim away the black felt. Your bird should have eyes and eyebrows now.

    • 5

Use the picture of the boomerang bird for reference and cut out two pieces of the feather shape for the top of the bird's head in black felt. This should look like a slightly crooked three-prong fork with the middle prong being the biggest. Sew the two pieces together and inside out.

    • 6

Layer one of the green ovals on top of the bird's face. Sew down the right-hand side. Repeat with the remaining green ovals. You should have two sections with two ovals on each.

    • 7

Center the feather piece on the face half and pin in place. Line the edges of the sections together and sew together, leaving an opening where the back of the bird's head will be (away from the face).

    • 8

Stuff the bird with cotton or fiberfill, using a dowel to push stuffing into the head feathers. Sew the opening closed with a needle and thread.

    • 9

Trace the shape of the boomerang bird's beak onto the orange felt. It should be shaped like a chubby banana. Cut out four of the shapes.

    • 10

Sew two of the shapes together, wrong side out and repeat with the other two. Turn right-side out and stuff the beaks with fiberfill. Sew the beaks onto the faces with a needle and thread.
