How to Change the Words on the Title Screen of "Super Mario World"

You will need to download the program Lunar Magic to change the words in the title screen of "Super Mario World." The program can alter a downloaded ROM of the game in several ways. It can change the look of the worlds and allow players to build their own levels. Changing the text on the title screen of "Super Mario World" may be among the easiest of these things to do.

• "Super Mario World" ROM (a .smc file)

Instructions

1. Right click on the icon for the zipped "Lunar Magic" program and choose the "Extract Here" option.

2. Double-click on the icon for "Lunar Magic.exe" to start the program.

3. Click "File" at the top left of the window to create a menu and click on the "Open ROM" option. This will make the "Open File" window appear.

4. Find and double click on the "Super Mario World" ROM file within the "Open File" window to open this file in Lunar Magic.

5. Click on the icon that looks like a castle tower to open the "Overworld Editor" window.

6. Move your mouse to "File" at the top left of the "Overworld Editor" window and click to make a menu appear.

7. Hover your mouse over the "Title Screen" option and click on "Load Title Screen."

8. Modify the text on the title screen to your preferences.

9. Click on the floppy disc icon to save your changes.

Tips & Warnings

• If you click on the "Editors" option and then "8x8 Overworld Tile Selector" this will open the "8x8 Tile Editor" window. In this window you can change the colors and orientation of the tiles used on the title screen.
