How to Get an Image on a Resin Bracelet

Resin bracelets are a great accessory for any wardrobe.

Resin bracelets are versatile accessories that can be fully customized with images as the focal point. Resin gives the appearance that embedded objects are floating inside a bubble attached to a piece of jewelry. Working with resin to create parts of a bracelet requires a lot of patience. However, the effort pays off with the end result. With the right supplies and time, you can make memorable image bracelets with resin.

Instructions

    • 1

Choose an image to use for your bracelet. Cut the image to the size of the cast resin findings or mold. The images can be any size if you are using the doming technique, depending on the desired size of your bracelet. The doming technique can be used if you would like to make a custom-sized image with no cast-resin finding attached. Print your image on quality photo paper if you are using a computer.

    • 2

Place sealant or white glue on the back of the photo and the cast-resin finding. Attach the photo to the cast resin finding. If you are not using a cast resin finding, set the photo on the doming tray. A doming tray allows the resin to drip away from the surface of the image, without causing buildup.

    • 3

Mix the resin and hardener in a plastic cup and stir stick according to the package's instructions. Allow the resin to sit for 10 minutes.

    • 4

Use the stir stick to drip the resin on the center of the image. Build up the resin to the desired amount by dripping the resin a few drops at a time if the image is in a cast-resin finding. You can pour more resin on the center of the photo if you are using a doming tray, since the tray will take excess resin away from the image. Repeat the resin process for each image.

    • 5

Pop pinhead bubbles, those with air trapped in the resin, with a needle. Allow the image to dry at least nine hours before assembling the bracelet. If you are using cast-resin findings, attach them to the jump rings using needle nose pliers. Open and close each jump ring to attach it to another one until the bracelet is complete. Attach the toggle clasps.

    • 6

Use a mini drill to drill holes in each side of the resin image if you are not using cast-resin findings. Attach the jump rings to the resin images. Use needle nose pliers to open and close the jump rings. Attach the toggle clasp to complete the bracelet.

Tips & Warnings

  • If you will be using resin often, invest in a micro-torch to pop bubbles. To use, hold the micro-torch 6 inches to 8 inches away from the resin. Click the flame on and off again to pop bubbles.
