You can use GIMP to duplicate and rotate an image.

GIMP is a free graphic-design program you can use to create and edit digital images. You can use the advanced editor to replicate an image and rotate the duplicate around a central point. You can repeat this process to repeat the image as many times as your project dictates. You can also use additional GIMP tools to further edit your workbook.

Instructions

    • 1

Click "File" and "New" to create a new workbook. Select a template or insert custom dimensions and click "OK." A blank workbook will be displayed.

    • 2

Insert the image you want to repeat and rotate in the workbook by clicking "File" and "Open As Layer."

    • 3

Click the "Move" tool in the main toolbox and then double-click and drag the image where you want the original to sit.

    • 4

Click the "Layer" tab and click "Transparency," then "Add Alpha Channel." Select the "Layer" tab again and click "Layer to Image Size."

    • 5

Click "Layer" again and "Duplicate Layer" to make a copy of the image.

    • 6

Click the "Rotate" tool in the main toolbox and then click somewhere within the workbook. A Rotate popup box will appear. Insert a numerical Angle or use the scroll bar to turn the image around. Assign a Center X and Center Y to dictate the central point the image will be rotated around, and click "Rotate" for the effect to take place.

Tips & Warnings

  • Continue to "Duplicate Layer" as many times as you want the image to appear within your workbook.

  • Unless otherwise noted, the toolbox will only apply to the current layer you are working on. If you want to edit a layer previously inserted, click the corresponding thumbnail in the Layers dialog to select that layer.
