Audacity can export audio files in a format your media player can use.

The free Audacity program allows you to edit, record and convert various types of audio content, as well as import a variety of file formats, including WAV, MP3, OGG and AU. After you finish creating an audio track or importing an existing file, you can export the file using any of the program's supported formats. Audacity lets you use the MP3, WAV or OGG formats for exporting files.

      Click "File" and then "Open." Select the song you want to export, then perform any desired edits before proceeding with exporting the file.

      Click the "File" menu again to see a list of exporting options. Click "Export As WAV," "Export As MP3" or "Export As Ogg Vorbis" to begin exporting the file.

      Click to select a location to save the song, then click "Save" to export your file using the selected audio format.

Tips & Warnings

  • To adjust the quality settings for your files, click the "Edit" menu and select "Preferences." Use the displayed drop-down lists and sliders to adjust the quality level for WAV, OGG and MP3 files, if desired.
