How to Make a Waving Smiley

Emoticons provide a simple way to convey emotions and expressions with a few keystrokes. You can create sad faces, smiley faces, roses and animals with text, and pretty much anything else you can imagine. If one of your friends is about to sign off your favorite messaging service, you can send them on their way with a simple emoticon designed to look like a man waving. This emoticon will work regardless of your chat client, as opposed to the downloadable sets you may find on third-party websites.

Instructions

1. Click the inside of the chat box to start your message.

2. Type a lowercase "O" followed by a forward slash.

3. Examine your emoticon before sending. It should look like this: o/

4. Hit the Enter key to send your waving emoticon and say goodbye to your friend.

Tips & Warnings

• You can also use the "o/" emoticon to say hello when friends or co-workers sign on for the day.
