How to Get a Pet Chipmunk

2
Consult with the chipmunk breeder or pet store employees about whether a chipmunk is the right pet for you. Ask any questions you have about caring for chipmunks.

3
Select a chipmunk that appears to be in good health. Check to see that its coat is shiny and smooth, that its eyes are bright and alert, that it has no obvious injuries and that it is vibrant and active.

Purchase your chipmunk and the accessories necessary to care for your new pet. Chipmunks often live in cages similar to those of hamsters. Choose a cage that is either plexiglass or made of wire mesh with very small holes, because chipmunks are quite adept at squeezing through small places.
