If you have a nice pair of black boots, shining them with shoe polish should be part of your regular maintenance schedule. However, if your boots have accumulated a thick layer of old polish, adding new shoe polish will not make them look in tip-top condition. Use a small amount of lighter fluid to remove layers of polish from your boots and give them a renewed shine. Does this Spark an idea?

  • Lighter fluid
  • Clean rag

      Wad up a clean rag and dampen the rag with lighter fluid.

      Gently rub the surface of the boot with the rag in a circular motion to remove the layers of old polish.

      Add more lighter fluid to a clean portion of the rag when the cloth gets too dirty, otherwise you will just be rubbing the boot with more shoe polish.

      Continue cleaning the surface of the boot with the lighter fluid until all the old polish has come off the boot.

      Apply a new layer of shoe polish.
