Display your jewelry like art on a cork board.

Organizing your jewelry can seem like an onerous task. Jewelry boxes with sections for each type of jewelry always seem to leave your necklaces tangled, and jewelry armoires take up valuable space. This is where viewing your jewelry as art can come in handy. Instead of hiding your favorite pieces in a jewelry chest, display them on a cork board. Not only will your necklaces stay straight and untangled, you'll have your jewelry at your fingertips. Getting dressed will go faster, and you can admire your collection even when you're not wearing it. Does this Spark an idea?

Instructions

    • 1

Measure the height and width of your cork bulletin board. Add 4 inches to both measurements so you know how large your fabric needs to be. For instance, if your bulletin board measures 36 inches by 24 inches, your fabric should be 40 inches by 28 inches. You can get bulletin boards at office supply or hardware stores.

    • 2

Cut a piece of muslin fabric to the appropriate dimensions and spread it out on a clean surface, wrong side up. Muslin works well because it's flexible, yet durable. You may also choose canvas, denim, corduroy or burlap. Pick a fabric and pattern that fits your style.

    • 3

Place the bulletin board face down on top of the fabric. Pull the edges up over the sides of the bulletin board, tug them taut and staple them down with a staple gun.

    • 4

Flip the bulletin board, now a jewelry board, over. The fabric should be smooth and straight on the other side of the board.

    • 5

Push decorative thumbtacks into the board in staggered rows 1 to 3 inches apart. Hang your jewelry on the thumbtacks, separating your pieces by color and style. Hang fishhook earring hooks on thumbtacks and simply push post earrings into the board.
