Drying hair products, blow dryers, the sun and wind can all wreak havoc on your hair and its natural shine. Luckily there is a way to have more shine in your hair while also boosting its color. Known as a gloss or a glaze, these treatments can be done in the shower at home. A gloss is meant to add shine and adjust the tone of the hair, bringing out the rich natural colors.       Decide if you want to add color in addition to shine or just add shine and boost the color you already have. Look for a clear gloss product for shine or a product that includes your hair color such as John Frieda Luminous Color Glaze in Sheer Blonde. This will add semi-permanent blonde dyes in addition to shine.

      Shampoo and condition your hair. Rinse well and squeeze excess water out of the hair. Pour a quarter-sized amount of the glaze into your palm and distribute evenly throughout the hair.

      Leave on for five minutes. Rinse hair in cool water to lock in shine and moisture. Squeeze out excess water and pat dry with a towel. Style as usual.

  • Avoid rubbing hair in a towel, the fibers dry hair out and cause frizz.
