Instructions

Shave the rest of your beard. If you are growing a goatee, let all of your facial hair grow for several days. Once this occurs, shave the hair from the cheeks and jawline, making clear, straight, vertical strokes with the razor on each side of the face. The exact locations to trim vary from guy to guy, but try to keep the goatee within your smile lines on your face. Make sure to shape your goatee symmetrically. It may take some time to get it even, but once you achieve this, maintaining it is not difficult.

Continue shave the rest of your beard regularly. Many men skip shaving sometimes, yet with a goatee, even a small amount of stubble on your face may cause you to look messy.

    • 3

Trim the goatee often, especially if you prefer it short. Some men prefer a shaggier, long goatee, but the more often you trim, the neater it will look.

Wash your goatee with shampoo. The hair in your goatee produce oil just like the hairs on your head and must be washed just the same. Use the same shampoo you use for your hair, and apply a small amount of conditioner to the goatee as well. Rinse the goatee well to eliminate all of the shampoo and conditioner from the hair.

Apply a moisturizing cream to the goatee. To manage your goatee's appearance, rub a small amount of any type of facial moisturizer into the hair. This help prevent itching and make your goatee look neat and clean.
