How to Decorate a Hairstylist's Station

Keeping the station clean will help highlight the decorations.

Being a hairstylist is more than simply cutting hair. You are also part psychologist and decorator, among other things. In order to create a desirable atmosphere that your customers enjoy being around, consider decorating your station. Choosing decorations allows you to be creative and show your colleagues and customers who you really are. If you want to add some spice and flair to the salon, follow some simple strategies to personalize your styling station to make it your own.

Instructions

1. Hang photos on the edges of the mirror. Cherished photos of family and friends will keep them close to your heart even when you are at work. Or, hang photos of natural landscapes or your favorite places to go on vacation. Whatever you choose, photos of the things you love will make your station more inviting.

2. Use your personal interests. This will help colleagues and customers identify your station as your space. If art and horses are your thing, hang a reprint of your favorite painting or place antique horse figurines on the counter of your styling station. If you are a hockey player in your spare time, hang a hockey stick from the ceiling and use it to hang some of your tools on.

3. Install a nameplate in a conspicuous section of your station. Above the mirror, on the top of the mirror or hanging from the ceiling are all good places. A nameplate will help establish your space as well as ingrain your name into the heads of new customers so that they will come back again.

4. Place your hairstylist's diploma in your station. This will help give your station a degree of credibility. Also include any notable awards you have received or achievements you have made even if they are not directly related to hairstyling.

5. Place a candy jar at your workstation. This will lighten the mood around your workstation and make it more inviting. Customers who are kids as well as the kids of your customers will love the fact that you have a candy jar. Your colleagues will probably love you, too.
