How to Make a Lion Headdress
Anybody planning to go to an animal-themed costume party as a lion or as a character from "The Lion King" will need to have a mane. You also will need dusty yellow clothing and some face paint, but the headdress can make or break the costume. One way to do this is to attach the lion's mane to the hood of a yellow sweatshirt. 1
Cut out lots of inch-wide strips of yellow, orange and brown fabric to make up the mane. The strips should be at least eight inches long. Any material can be used for this, but the corresponding fabric glue will be required.
-
2
Make a one-inch fold at one end of each fabric strip and attach them to the front of the hood using fabric adhesive.

3
Continue to glue on strips, first in a line around the front of the hood and then moving backward to make the mane look fuller. Keep attaching the strips until the whole hood is covered.
-
4
Give the strips extra support by adding a couple of loops of thread with a needle through the folded-over part from under the hood. These do not need to be sewn in tightly, because the glue will hold them in place.

Tips & Warnings
The more strips of cloth used, the better the mane will look. Make sure the whole hood is covered to create a full mane.
