How to Handle Rejection for a Promotion or Interview
Many people experience rejection in their life whether it is for a job promotion, an initial interview, subsequent interviews or a job offer. The important thing is to not take it personally and to seek the opportunity to refine your negotiation and interview techniques. Understand that rejection is an opportunity for growth. Try asking your interviewer how you might improve your skills in the future. You might also have been the exact person the employers thought they were looking for, but someone with more experience may have come along.

Rejection is a natural part of life and everyone experiences it at some point. Not everyone you meet in life will like you. The same goes for interviews. Another candidate may have had a personality that better suits the position.
-
2
Handle rejection well. Do not take rejection personally and send a thank you letter or email regarding the opportunity to interview for the position. You do not want to burn bridges, but to maintain relationships in case you interview for another promotion or position in the future.

Surround yourself with support. Find people who will support you on your venture to land the job of your dreams or get that promotion. This could be fellow job seekers or friends and family. Family and friends can also help you practice for future interviews.
