How to Hide Acne on GIMP

If you would like to hide acne in a photo, you can use the GIMP paint brush tool to touch up blemishes. With the "Color Picker Tool," you can copy an exact color straight from your photo, which allows you to choose a color that will match the skin tone of the photo's subject. Then, with the proper brush settings, you can paint over parts of your photo in a way that the photo still looks realistic and other people can not tell that the picture was altered.

Instructions

    • 1

Launch the GIMP program on your computer.

    • 2

Click "File," and then click "Open" to browse for the photo you want to edit. Double-click the photo to load it in GIMP.

    • 3

Click the "Zoom Tool" from the toolbox and click on the area near the acne until you have zoomed in closely.

    • 4

Click the "Color Picker Tool" and click on a skin color as near to the blemishes as you can. This will place the color on your brush pallet.

    • 5

Click the "Paint Brush Tool" from the toolbox.

    • 6

Reduce the brush "Opacity" setting to "30." You may also need to adjust the "Scale" setting of the brush, depending on the size of the blemish.

    • 7

Left-click and stroke the brush over the acne repeatedly. This will paint over the acne with the skin tone color. The opacity allows you to gradually apply soft layers of color, which helps to make the adjustments look realistic.

    • 8

Repeat this process with any other blemishes in your photo.

    • 9

Click "File," and then click "Save" to save the changes to your picture.
