How to Webcam Chat on EBuddy

How to Webcam Chat on EBuddy thumbnail
Use eBuddy's webcam chat capabilities to have multimedia chats in your Web browser.

The eBuddy website supports browser-based video chats on multiple instant messaging networks, including AOL IM, Windows Live and Yahoo! Messenger. If you create a free eBuddy ID, you can use your account information to log in to multiple networks at once, and send video chat invitations. Your contact doesn't need an eBuddy account and can access the video chat through a special link that gets sent when you initiate the webcam chat.

Instructions

    • 1

Navigate to the eBuddy website. Click the "eBuddy iD Multi Network Chat" option on the page, then type your eBuddy ID and password. This launches the eBuddy Web Messenger and displays a list of all contacts associated with your account.

    • 2

Click a contact's name to open a new chat window. Click the webcam icon located either near the top or near the bottom of your chat window. eBuddy then sends an invitation link to your contact, and the video chat begins when your contact clicks the link.

Click "Allow" on the right side of the chat window when you see a prompt for camera and microphone access. This uses your computer's default webcam and microphone for the chat. To change these settings, hover your mouse over your webcam feed, and click the "Settings" icon. Click "Video Calls' in the left pane, then select your camera and microphone from the drop-down lists. Click "Save" to save your settings.

Click the red telephone icon after you finish your webcam chat. Click "Sign Out" at the top of the eBuddy buddy list to completely log out.

Tips & Warnings

  • You have to have an eBuddy ID to use the webcam chat features. Click "Claim Your Free eBuddy ID" on the login screen to make a free account.

  • If you don't have Adobe Flash installed, your browser may prompt you to install it when you initiate a video chat. If you don't get a prompt, download and install Flash from the Adobe website, then try starting a video chat again.
