Friendship bracelets can be worn on the wrist or ankle.

Friendship bracelets are trinkets given by one friend to another as a symbol and reminder of a friendship. They are normally homemade and come in different designs. You can make a cube structure friendship bracelet using string by weaving and folding the string in a specific way. This method builds a structure you can make as long as the wearer's wrist or ankle.

Instructions

    • 1

Measure your friend's wrist or ankle. Your string will need to match the measurement plus 2 inches.

    • 2

Cut two different colored pieces of cord to equal lengths. Line the cords up alongside each other. Fold the strings in half to create a loop. Make a cross in the middle of the loop with the strands.

    • 3

Fold the bottom strand back over the other. Pass the other cord end over the folded strand. Repeat this with the opposite color. Pass the first color cord over the first strand and under the second strand of the opposite color. Pull the knot tight.

Fold the two strands of one color opposite directions over the top of the knot to create two loops. Weave the other colored strands over the first loop and under the second loop in opposite directions. Repeat this process with the opposite color. Continue repeating to build your cube shaped bracelet.

Make the bracelet as long as you want. Tie the bracelet to a friend's wrist or ankle.

Tips & Warnings

  • Plastic string is the best string to use to build the cube friendship bracelet as it has a stiffness and a bulk that embroidery floss and other common bracelet strings don't have.
