1
Draw a large half circle on a piece of black construction paper.

2
Mark eye holes on the mask two-thirds of the way up the circle using a felt-tip pen. Cut oval eye holes out of the mask using the safety scissors. Next, cut a small oval nose hole into the mask. You should hold the mask up to the child who will be wearing it to make sure the eyes and nose are in the right position.

Cut two small triangles and a small rectangle from a second piece of black construction paper. Attach the triangles to the top of the Batman mask to form ears using scotch tape or staples.
-
4
Fold the rectangular wedge of paper in half to crease it. Staple it vertically over the nose hole. Cut two rubber bands in half and staple the ends to each side of the mask.
-
5
Cut a trapezoid from a piece of dark blue cloth that is about half the length of your child and wide enough to run across his shoulders. Turn the ends of the trapezoid down and sew them flat using black or dark blue thread.
-
6
Attach the cape to the child's shirt using safety pins. Complete the costume by having the child wear dark blue or black pants and a blue shirt. Rubber boots and a yellow belt can also round out the ensemble.
