How to Install an Apple Script in Entourage

Apple Scripts provide you a way to easily manipulate applications running on your Mac, allowing you to add enhanced functionality to programs like Microsoft Word and Entourage. Apple bundles a program called Script Editor that provides you a way to edit and save Apple Scripts to application packages running on your computer. Unlike Microsoft Word, Entourage includes a scripts menu option which allows you to activate scripts from the application interface.

      Open the script you downloaded from the Web highlight the text, then press "Command" and "C" to copy the text.

      Click the Spotlight icon in the top right, then type "Script Editor" and press "Enter" to open Apple's Script Editor.

      Place your cursor in the main text field in Script Editor, then press "Command" and "V" to paste the script. Click "Check Syntax" to validate the script.

      Click "File" in the menu bar, and select "Save." Navigate to "~/Documents/Microsoft User Data/Entourage Script Menu Items" using the "Save As" dialog, type a name for the script in the text field, and click "Save."

      Launch Entourage on your computer, click "Scripts" in the menu bar of the application window, and select the script you just loaded to Entourage. The application activates the script.
