How to Keep My AOL Window From Maximizing
America Online, or AOL, will automatically stretch itself to the full size of the screen when its minimized window is reopened. This process, which is known as maximizing, can disrupt your use of other applications. To keep the window from maximizing once it has been selected, you'll need to employ the window resize capabilities of Windows 7.

Launch your AOL software from the Start menu if you have not already done so.

Right-click your AOL software icon on your system task bar.
