The Directions to Purify Water for a Steam Iron
Steam irons for pressing clothes and removing wrinkles typically use purified water to eliminate odors and stains on fabrics. If you don't have a water filter connected to your sink's faucet, inexpensive alternatives can filter and purify water for your steam iron. Things You'll Need
- Plastic bottle with resealable cap
- Bleach
- Sauce pan or tea kettle
- Funnel
- #4 size cone-type coffee filters

Pour 1 cup bleach into a resealable plastic bottle and screw on the bottle cap. Shake vigorously for one minute. Pour out the bleach before rinsing in cold water and capping the bottle.

Place a saucepan or tea kettle of water on the stove and bring to a full boil for one minute.

Insert a coffee filter into the funnel. Place the spout of the funnel inside the opening of the plastic container.

Pour water from the sauce pan or teakettle slowly through the filter. This catches any sediment.

Screw on the cap for the plastic container. Store the purified water until you're ready to use the steam iron.
