How to Install a Window Well Bubble

Lisa Wampler

You usually find window wells around basement windows that mount below grade or below the surface of the ground. The window well is usually made of rounded metal. If water sits inside the well, it can leak into the basement. Because of this, you can install a window well bubble or window well cover, both of which prevent water from resting inside the window well.

Step 1

Slide the mounting clips for the bubble into their marked positions .You will see two marks at the top rear of the bubble and a mark on each side of the bubble.

Step 2

Position the bubble window over the window well, and center it from left to right. Butt the back of the bubble window against the wall.

Step 3

Transfer the holes in the mounting clips onto the wall with a marker. Place the bubble window to the side.

Step 4

Drill a hole into the wall large enough to hold the necessary wall anchors. For brick or block foundations, use masonry wall anchors. Fill the holes with silicone caulk before you drive in the anchors. This will prevent the foundation from soaking up additional moisture.

Step 5

Place the cover over the window well, and line up the mounting holes. Secure the brackets to the wall with the supplied screws and a screwdriver.
