Surround sound brings more life to a home-theater.

To hook up a surround-sound system you will need to take the audio signal out of the Zenith plasma television into a surround-sound processor such as a home theater receiver. Zenith Plasma only has one audio output --- a Digital Optical output. This means you will need a Digital Optical input on your receiver, which most digital surround-sound receivers have, to connect the two pieces of equipment together.

Things You'll Need

Instructions

    • 1

Locate the digital audio output on your surround-sound receiver. It should be labelled "Digital Audio Input" or "Optical In" and have a red light inside the connection.

    • 2

Insert the plug on one end of the optical cable into the digital input on your surround-sound receiver. Look at the grooves on the plug and line them up with the grooves on the input to insert the plug. There is only one way the plug will insert into the input.

    • 3

Locate the digital audio output on the back of the Zenith plasma television. The output is labeled "Optical Digital Audio Out" above the output.

    • 4

Insert the other plug on the optical cable into the "Optical Digital Audio Out" by matching up the grooves on the plug with the grooves on the output and pushing the plug in.
