Enroll new child actors and models in classes. Classes are a common way to build their skills and learn more about the entertainment industry. Some schools teach acting and modeling. Agents work with child models and actors to find work and take a percentage of their clients' earnings. They are the connection between the production companies and the actors and know which TV shows, plays and other opportunities are best for the child. Unfortunately, child actors and models are vulnerable to scam agencies. The Federal Trade Commission recommends that aspiring actors avoid agencies that require payments for photographs from specific photographers.

Auditions give child models and actors the chance to meet casting directors and display their talent. Actors are usually given excerpts of the script to read while the audition is performed in front of casting directors. Models also go to auditions so they can be seen in person. Both models' and actors' agents are called if their clients are deemed suitable for the job. Audition Agency states that a friendly attitude and confidence are key to enduring the audition process.

4
Act and model in non-paid work. This is a good way for new models and actors to get some experience and exposure. Not everyone can start off starring in a big movie or national ad campaign. Work with local production companies who are filming small projects like commercials and short films. Models can get experience by modeling for local magazines and promotional events, according to Kandu Marketing and Staffing, LLC.

5
Hire an accountant to handle child actors' and models' earnings. One famous law for child actors is Coogan's Law, which protects the majority of a minor's earnings. The Screen Actors Guild states that at least 15 percent of the child's earnings be deposited in a special account. The law varies according to your state, so work with a lawyer or agent to get advice on the laws in your area.
