How to Make a Portable Crib Sheet

1
Measure the length and width of your portable crib mattress. Determine the amount of fabric you need by adding 7 inches to each measurement.
-
2
Wash and dry your fabric to prevent shrinking after sewing your sheet. Iron the fabric if it is wrinkled.
-
-
3
Fold the fabric in half lengthwise and smooth it out with your hand. Fold the fabric in half across the width.
-
4
Cut a 4-inch square out of the corner of the fabric without a folded edge. Cut through all four layers of the fabric. Open the fabric back up.
-
5
Begin at one corner of the fabric and align the edges together, facing the right sides of the fabric together. Pin the edges to hold them in place. Sew the edges together with 3/8-inch seams using your sewing machine. Repeat for each remaining corner.
-
6
Lay out your fabric with the bottom facing up. Fold each edge over 1/4 inch and iron it smooth. Fold the edge over an additional 1 inch and iron it again. Pin the edge after ironing to secure it in place.
-
7
Sew all around the perimeter of the crib sheet with a straight stitch, forming a sleeve, leaving a 2-to-3 inch opening. Insert the piece of elastic into the opening and thread it through the sleeve on the edge of the sheet. Sew the ends of the elastic together with a zigzag stitch to hold them in place.
-
8
Stretch the sheet over the portable crib mattress and place the mattress back into the crib.
