How to Keep Your Lips From Looking White

How to Keep Your Lips From Looking White thumbnail
Regular exfoliation can keep lips looking healthy.

White lips can result from a build-up of dead skin cells. Prevent excess dry skin on the lips by regularly moisturizing with a hydrating lip balm. Drink sufficient water daily to ensure the dry skin is not a symptom of overall dehydration. Remove excess skin cells by exfoliating the lips with natural ingredients on a weekly basis. Contact a physician immediately if sudden changes in lip color occur, that are not resolved with exfoliation. Does this Spark an idea?

Instructions

    • 1

Prepare the exfoliating scrub by placing the honey and brown sugar in a small dish. Mix with a teaspoon until the ingredients are fully combined. The resulting scrub should be the texture of a thick paste.

    • 2

Saturate a wash cloth with warm water. Wring out any excess water to prevent drips. Place the cloth over the lips for approximately 5 minutes, to soften the lips in preparation for the exfoliation process.

    • 3

Remove the washcloth from the lips. Use a clean index finger to apply approximately 1/4 tsp. of the exfoliating scrub directly to the lips. Repeat until the lips are covered in a thick coat of the honey and sugar mixture.

    • 4

Rinse a toothbrush under warm water to soften the bristles. Rub the brush gently in a small, circular motion over the surface of the lips to aid the exfoliating scrub in removing excess skin cells. Repeat for approximately 1 to 2 minutes.

    • 5

Rinse off the excess scrub with warm water. Immediately apply a thick coat of lip balm to hydrate the exfoliated lips. Clean the tooth brush by washing with hot water to reserve for future exfoliating.

Tips & Warnings

  • White or very pale pink lips that are not improved by exfoliation can be a symptom of underlying health conditions, which can include anemia or thyroid issues. Contact a health professional for further assessment.
