How to Make Your Own Clip-On Dangles
Clip-on earrings are a great way to accessorize an outfit. Dangle earrings have long strings of beads and other jewelry findings that hang down from the ear. If the beads are heavy, dangle earrings can hurt after a while. Years of dangle earring use may result in elongated earlobe holes. You can give your ears a break by making your own clip-on dangle earrings. Clip-ons will not hurt as much and are perfect for jobs where you have to answer the phone periodically or for those who do not have pierced ears.
Things You'll Need
- Clip-on earring findings with loops
- Jewelry pliers
- Wire cutters
- Assorted beads and findings

1
Lay out the beads and findings (small metal objects that act as embellishments to jewelry) in order to see what your product will look like. Consider color and style if you are making the earrings for a special occasion, person or outfit.
-
2
Hold the head pin between your thumb and forefinger as you thread the beads and findings onto the wire. The head pin has a flat side that will prevent the beads from falling off and a wire that will hold the beads for your dangle earrings.

Leave about 1/3 inch of wire above the beads. If you have too much wire, trim it with the wire cutters. Grip the end of the wire with the round-nose jewelry pliers and twist the pliers so that the wire forms a loop at the top of the earring. Do not close the loop.

Hook the loop at the top of the earring onto the loop on the front of the clip-on earring finding. Use the pliers to close the loop. Repeat this for the other earring.
