How to Install a Curtain Rod With a Fiberglass Shower Insert
Two main types of rod available exist for installing a shower curtain in your bathroom, either a fixed rod held in place with brackets or an adjustable tension rod. If you need to hang a rod in a fiberglass shower insert, your options narrow to a tension-type adjustable rod because the fiberglass will likely splinter or crack if you attempt to install rod brackets. Tension rods are equipped with rubber tips for a firm grip against fiberglass. The rod installs in a few minutes. Does this Spark an idea?

1
Measure the span across the fiberglass shower insert where you want to install the curtain rod.
-
2
Hold the fixed end of the rod in one hand and turn the other end counterclockwise until it extends to the required length.
-
-
3
Measure the height of your shower curtain. Plan to install the curtain rod two inches higher than this measurement so the curtain does not drag on the bottom of the shower stall.
-
4
Place the fixed end of the rod against the fiberglass shower near the top edge, then slide the adjustable end until it is horizontal to the floor.
-
5
Hold a carpenter's level to the top of the rod to confirm it is as level as possible.
-
6
Twist the adjustable end of the curtain rod counterclockwise against the shower stall until it is firmly wedged against the fiberglass. You can now attach shower-curtain hooks over the rod for connecting a curtain.
