Make a foxtail out of strands of yarn.

If your child would like to dress up as a fox for Halloween, then he will need a tail. Make a fox tail out of scrap yarn that you have at your home. You can use any shade of yarn in brown, black, red, white and beige -- and match the tail to the colors in your child's costume. Be creative. There is not a set form for making a fox tail. Add and take away yarn to get the specific look you want.

Instructions

    • 1

Line your table with wax paper to protect your working surface.

    • 2

Insert a hot glue stick into the hot glue gun and warm up the glue by plugging the gun into a power outlet.

    • 3

Lay a three-inch wide piece of ribbon on your workspace. The ribbon should be about five inches long.

    • 4

Gather about 20 strands of five-inch long yarn together and wrap an elastic band around the top. Glue this grouping of yarn directly onto the ribbon and allow the glue to dry. Start at the bottom and work up to the top of the ribbon, adding more yarn until the entire ribbon is covered in yarn strands.

    • 5

Insert a safety pin into the back of the ribbon and attach the pin to the child's t-shirt or pants. Trim the yarn, snipping a V-shape from the bottom of the tail and tapering off to the top.
