It is possible to fix a scratched PowerSuite DVD.

The PowerSuite software is used to defragment a computer's system registry, optimize settings and update hardware drivers. The ISO image for PowerSuite is found on the physical DVD. If you are having difficulty installing the software, it may be due to scratches, dust and dirt on the DVD. This is a relatively easy fix, however.

Instructions

    • 1

Eject the disc from your computer and look at the data side. This is the side without the PowerSuite graphic on it. Use a soft cloth and a small amount of water to remove the dust or dirt on the DVD.

    • 2

Look over the bottom the DVD to see if there are any scratches. If you find any scratches on the bottom of the DVD, they need to be repaired. Scratches will leave gaps in the data when installing the PowerSuite software.

    • 3

Put a small amount of toothpaste on the disc. Add water to the disc and then work it in clockwise. This will braze a small layer of the plastic off of the scratches allowing the laser to reach the data inside the scratch.

    • 4

Take your PowerSuite DVD into a disc cleaning repair shop. Many used gaming stores or used CD shops will have disc buffers. These machines are designed to take a layer off of the disc to minimize the scratches on the DVD.

    • 5

Fill the scratches in with a small amount of Vaseline and then burn a new copy to your PowerSuite software. This is a temporary solution for the disc so it's imperative that you make a new copy of the software.
