How to Check a DHCP Table

The Windows DHCP server provides your network users with IP addresses. DHCP servers guarantee that each network user receives a unique IP address without requiring the administrator to manually configure the address. The administrator checks the DHCP table to review the list of users connected on the network and to review unassigned IP addresses.

Instructions

    • 1

Click the Windows "Start" button on your DHCP server. Click "Administrative Tools" and then click "DHCP Server." The admin console for the DHCP server opens.

    • 2

Click the DHCP server name in the left panel. On most small networks, only one DHCP server displays.

    • 3

Click the "Action" menu item, then click "Properties." In the window that opens, click "Show the BOOTP table folder."

    • 4

Click "BOOTP Table" in the left navigation panel. The DHCP boot table displays.
