How to Replace the Treadle on My Loom
The treadle of a loom allows the user to adjust the threads for each pass of the shuttle in a hands-free manner. This device simply requires that the user press on a pedal that corresponds with the threads that are to be raised or lowered. Unfortunately, over time, the treadle may become worn or broken because of the pressure that the user's feet and legs place on it. The treadle is replaceable; the process is something that almost any loom owner can complete.

1
Lift the treadle upward with your hand to release all of the tension on the lines that connect the treadle to the loom.
-
2
Pull the hook connecting the side of the loom and the treadle at the eyelet screw, which is a screw with a hole at its head. The side on which this hook is will depend on the brand of the loom.
-
-
3
Loosen and remove the screws that are located at the back of the loom's base by turning them counterclockwise with a screwdriver. This will release the hinge that connects the treadle to the loom and allows the treadle pedals to move up and down.
-
4
Pull the treadle away from the loom with both hands.
-
5
Slide the new treadle into the location from which you removed the old treadle. Line up the screw holes of the new treadle with the screw holes of the loom.
-
6
Insert and tighten a screw through the holes of the new treadle and and the loom by turning them clockwise with a screwdriver.
-
7
Hold the treadle up slightly with your hand and replace the hook removed in Step 2 in the location from which it was taken. This will reattach the lines that connect the treadle to the loom.
-
8
Lower the treadle to its resting position by letting it down slowly with your hand. Release your hand from the treadle once it is in its resting position.
