how to moisturize a bald head

While many people assume that bald heads do not need any specialized care, the reality is that maintaining a nice looking, healthy bald head takes time and caring just as any newly styled or colored hair does. Unlike typical hairstyles, a bald head showcases the health of your scalp. Mistreating your scalp only leads to drying, peeling and even blemishes. Keeping a bald head properly moisturized takes more than just putting on some lotion. From the type of shampoo you use to properly exfoliating the skin, you must use the appropriate products and maintain your moisturizing routine on a daily and weekly basis.

Wet your head with warm water. Squirt a dime sized amount of mild moisturizing shampoo on your head.

Massage the shampoo on your head. Use the tips of your fingers and gently massage the front, sides, top and back of your head. Rinse the shampoo off.

Exfoliate your head with a gentle exfoliating scrub. Rub the exfoliating scrub onto your head the same way you use shampoo. Massage and rinse the scrub off.

Dry off your head with a clean dry towel. Squirt a pea sized amount of a nonalcohol-based moisturizer on your head. Spread it all over your scalp from front to back with your hands. Let the moisturizer dry for 10 minutes.

Apply a gentle, nonirritating sunscreen to your head the same way as the moisturizer. Sunscreen prevents sunburn on your head, which leads to peeling and drying.

Tip

Exfoliate once or twice a week. Too much exfoliating leads to dry, irritated skin. Apply moisturizer and sunscreen every day after showering. Look for products specially designed for bald heads.

Warning

Never use harsh exfoliating scrubs or shampoos on your scalp.
