How to Care for Sarongs
Wrap yourself in a sarong for a stylish look. The sarong is one of the most versatile pieces of clothing a woman can own because it transforms into a dress, skirt, beach cover-up and top. The long piece of fabric comes in varying lengths, designs and fabrics such as rayon and silk. Caring for your sarong is a bit more than just tossing it in the washer and walking away. Knowing your fabric type and how to wash it is the most important step in maintaining the look and style of your sarong. Does this Spark an idea?

Rayon Sarong

Unfold the sarong and shake to remove any lint, dirt or dust particles.

Place the sarong into the washing machine and set the temperature to "Cold Rinse." Do not add detergent. If you wash more than one sarong at a time, keep like colors together.

Remove the sarong from the washing machine and shake out. Transfer the sarong to the dryer. Set the temperature to "Delicate" for 30 minutes.

Stop the dryer at the 30-minute mark and remove the lint tray. Empty the tray and replace. Set the dryer for another 10 minutes at the same temperature.

Remove the sarong from the dryer immediately and lay flat to dry. Smooth wrinkles with your hands. Once the sarong is completely dry, iron it on low heat.
Silk Sarong

Fill a tub with room-temperature to cold water and saturate the sarong. Move the sarong around in the water and scrub any stains with a sponge. Do not add detergent.

Remove the sarong and squeeze, not ring, the water from the material. Hang or lay flat to dry. Do not hang or lay the sarong in the sun. The sun will fade the colors of the sarong.

Iron the sarong on the wrong side when it is completely dry. Set the iron to the "Silk" setting.

Tips & Warnings
Do not leave a rayon sarong in the dryer; this will cause excessive wrinkling.
Silk that has a flame-resistant finish should be dry-cleaned only.
Avoid using cleaning agents to remove hard-to-clean stains on silk. Remove stains through dry cleaning.
