Troubleshooting a Hunter Pro-C Timer
The Hunter Pro-C residential irrigation controller governs the function of your home's entire irrigation system. The Pro-C can accommodate up to 12 irrigation valves or stations. Stations can be programmed to go off at the same time or at various times. The timer activates the station when scheduled, a signal is sent from the station to its connected valve, the valve opens and allows water to flow through the connected sprinklers to water the lawn. During the life of the Hunter Pro-C, power and station problems might occur. Does this Spark an idea?

1
Unplug the Hunter timer and pull up the irrigation valve manifold lid and place it to the side, if a valve doesn't respond to Pro-C timer activation. The wiring might be faulty. Locate the wiring for the valve in question and unscrew the watertight splice connector from the pairing. Confirm that the color-coded irrigation wire and the valve wire are stripped of insulation at least a half inch at the tips. Twist the wires together and twist the watertight splice connector back onto the pairing.
-
2
Unplug the Hunter Pro-C from the power outlet and plug it back in to reset the connection, if the display isn't illuminated. Inspect the power cord for damage. If any dings, frays or cuts are spotted, replace the power cord.

3
Open the front panel of the Pro-C to expose the timer wiring, if the unit displays the error message, "No AC." Locate the AC terminals in the upper left corner. Confirm that the two yellow wires of the power cord are snuggly connected to the two AC terminals and that the green wire is connected to the GND terminal. Close the front panel.
-
4
Pull up the irrigation valve lid and inspect the wiring for the listed valve, if the unit displays an error message, such as "2 Err." The "2" indicates the station number. Inspect the second valve or the valve that is assigned or connected to the second station. If the wiring is intact, disconnect the wires, unscrew the solenoid and replace it with a new solenoid. Twist the irrigation wire and the new solenoid wire together and replace the watertight splice connector.

5
Turn the controller dial to the "Set Station Run Time" to check each station run time, if a start time isn't set for one or more stations. Press the back button on the front panel to cycle through the various station times. If a station appears without a start time, then press the "-" or "+" buttons to set a start time. Turn the controller dial to "Run" to set the schedule in motion.
