1
Pull your hair straight back and secure at the nape of your neck for a runway-inspired style. Creating the look is easy by applying a straightening balm to your hands and rubbing your palms together. Apply the balm to your hair and comb through to distribute evenly. Comb the hair back and secure at the nape of your neck. For an added style, wrap a piece of hair around the ponytail holder and secure with a bobby pin under the base of the ponytail.

Add poof to your ponytail by adding height to the crown of your head. Pull your bangs upward and back-tease at the roots. Brush your hair into the ponytail with the exception of the bang area. You want to pull the bang area back with your fingers so the brush does not flatten the poof. Secure the ponytail at the crown of your head. Insert the long end of the comb into the area between the bangs and the ponytail; pull the hair upward to add additional height. Spray the poof with hairspray to secure.

Gather your hair and pull to the side. While the side ponytail was trendy in the '80s, you can modernize it by securing the ponytail under your right or left ear. To create the look, apply a straightening balm to your hands, then rub together and smooth through your hair. Brush your hair downward and secure in a ponytail just under your left or right ear. Spray hair with a light hairspray to control flyaways.

Brush your hair into a standard ponytail that is secured at the back of your head. Instead of leaving your hair straight, curl it into ringlets and let them hang down your back. Other ways to style straight hair is crimping with a crimp iron or braiding the hair. You can add a headband or rhinestone clips to your hair for a little flair.
