How to Link Inside a Post on Facebook

Facebook posts on your profile also show up in friends' news feeds.

Facebook posts are a way to communicate with friends on the social networking site. Use links within your posts to direct your readers to the profile of someone else on Facebook or an outside site, such as a personal blog or favorite video. Once you post a link to an outside site within a post, it will remain active unless the post is removed completely. The link to another person's profile can be removed by clicking the "Remove tag" link beneath the post.

Instructions

    • 1

Go to the homepage and click inside the "Post" field in the "Share" toolbar, located at the top of the screen -- the post will appear on your own profile. To create a post on another person's wall, go to her profile and click in the "Post" field at the top of her wall.

    • 2

Begin to type your post. When you get to the point where you want to create a link to another person's profile, insert the "@" symbol and then type her name as it appears at the top of her profile page. Link to an outside website by typing the full Web address, including the "www." When linking to an outside website, no "@" is required.

    • 3

Click the "Share" button just beneath your post. Once the post is sent to the wall, the link you created becomes active and clickable. Links to another user's profile open in the same window, while links to other websites open in a new browser window.
