In 2007, the introduction of the Kindle wireless reading device helped Amazon make billions. With so many products available on Amazon, gift cards and promotions are sought after items. Using a gift card or promotional code to pay for items on Amazon takes just a few clicks.

Instructions

1. Sign in to your Amazon account with your email and password. If you do not have an Amazon account, you can create one by clicking "Start here" at the top of the page.

2. Shop for your item. Choose the item you want to purchase and click "Add to Cart" then "Proceed to Checkout." You may be prompted to re-enter your password.

3. Enter the claim code from the email, plastic or paper gift you received, or the promo code under "Gift Cards and Promotional Codes." Click "Apply" when finished. The gift card or promo code will be applied to your purchase.

4. Review the details of your order. If correct, click "Place Your Order" to finish. If using a gift card, the payment will be deducted from your balance.
