Plush blankets are a soft and cozy addition to your home, especially in the long winter months. This fleecy type of blanket can be cleaned just like any other piece of bedding; however, the blanket may end up covered with tiny lint balls that are difficult to remove. Lint balls, also known as pilling, can build up over time as the fuzzy fibers become tangled or as a result from friction with other fabrics. Whatever the cause, you can easily remove unsightly fuzz using one of these simple methods.
Step 1
Place the blanket into your dryer with two tennis balls. Set the dryer for fluff dry, or according to the cleaning instructions on the tag. Allow the blanket to fluff for 10 minutes. In this time, the tennis balls will bounce around and help knock off any loose lint from the blanket. Remove the blanket from the dryer. Use a lint roller or masking tape to rub the surface and remove any leftover lint.

Step 2
Use a handheld lint or fabric shaver to remove stubborn fuzz. This convenient tool features a small electric blade behind a safety screen that cuts and removes lint from the surface of the fabric. To use this tool, start by spreading the blanket lint-side up on a flat surface. Turn the shaver on with one hand, then spread the blanket smooth with the other. Press the shaver to the blanket and gradually and gently move it over the entire surface.
Step 3
Use a disposable razor if you do not have access to a lint shaver. Spread the blanket lint-side up on a flat surface. Smooth the blanket out with your hand. Keep your thumb extended as far as possible from your index finger to create a taut surface. Hold the razor at an angle -- which allows it skim the surface instead of cutting down into it. Carefully glide the razor along the fabric between your thumb and index finger to shave off the fuzz balls.
Step 4
Use a pumice stone to remove pilling. Start by laying the blanket out flat. Place the pumice stone on the blanket, and gently roll it over the fuzzy areas. Be careful using the pumice stone so that you do not accidently tear any holes in the blanket. Do not apply pressure while rolling, and do not pull hard when you lift it off the blanket.
