How to Close a Loop When Making a Bracelet

How to Close a Loop When Making a Bracelet thumbnail
Bracelets with clasps require loops on either end.

When making a bracelet out of wire, loop the wire at the beginning and at the end of the bracelet to keep the beads in place. The loops are an important component to the bracelet because they provide a hole onto which the clasp pieces can be attached. Closing a loop on a bracelet is relatively simple as long as you have a bit of hand-eye coordination.

Instructions

    • 1

Clamp the wire in your round-nose pliers about 1 1/2 inches away from the end. Bend the wire in half so the end of the wire is facing towards you. The wire should be looped around the bottom jaw of your pliers.

    • 2

Remove the pliers from inside the loop, and clamp the main wire between the two jaws of the pliers. Hold the wire firmly as you pull the short end of the wire up from underneath and over the main wire to close the loop.

    • 3

Wrap the wire around the loop a second time to close the loop more securely. Then, clip the remaining wire with a pair of wire cutters.
